Chimpsy

fence post
Do you know what "chimpsy" means? I didn't until today, when I took a photographic fieldtrip to learn how to use my DSLR camera.

chimpsy ( chĭmp • sē ) adj. – a colloquial term used in digital photography to describe the habit of checking every photo on the camera display immediately after capture. Chimp is an acronym forCHeck IMage Preview.

Chimpsy is also the name of a hands-on learning course that teaches you how to use your point-and-shoot or DSLR camera to get the best pictures possible. I first learned about it through Groupon and I'm so happy that I purchased the coupon because I learned some great tips today. My photography skills are forever changed. You might not notice it right away, but I'm sure with some practice it will become more obvious over time.

Handmade Quilted Trivet

trivet

I made this trivet as a sample for one of the many summertime classes at Fancy Tiger. It's a great project for learning the basics of quilting in a short period of time. Sign up for the class if you want to learn to quilt!

I really like the bird/bird cage fabric and chose to frame it with some bold colors; I also used it for the binding. It is a tribute fabric to 1950's textile artist Tammis Keefe by Michael Miller Fabrics.

"WOM"

JP is in preschool and learning to write. Here is my invitation to the Mother's Day Tea Party; it is for "WOM".

He is also learning to draw. Here is the portrait he drew of me. I'm impressed with the details,
-five fingers on each hand
-black hair at the right length
    -eyebrows and eyelashes
    -a big smile
    -and a little black dress.
Perfect!

This is what makes Mother's Day special!
