One of my Favorite Things for kids is The Music Train!
It's a program located in Denver that offers a fun musical experience for kids and parents. It is run by Anya who is a great teacher and musician. She has a beautiful voice that engages both kids and adults and really makes this program so enjoyable. She has also figured out the right combination of songs, instruments, dance, and stories to make The Music Train exciting and so much fun for all ages!
My 3 year old son and I have been going to The Music Train for 2 years. In that time, we've experienced 6 musical genres out of 8 that are offered:
-Swingin' Jazz
-Classical Corner
-Latin Rhythms
-Irish Folk n' Fiddle
-Rock & Blues
-Sounds of Africa
-Bluegrass & Americana
-Holiday Songs & Stories
The Music Train is offered in 9 week sessions with a focus on a different musical genre for each session. The children are exposed to songs with fun melodies, harmonies, and rhythm. A great variety of instruments are available to play. A parachute, scarves, and other fun props are used to enjoy movement to music.
We are getting ready to join our last toddler class and look forward to continuing with the preschool class. If you live in town and have a toddler/preschooler, this is a very worthwhile program to sign up for. If you do sign up, let me know which day you'll attend and maybe we can sing and dance together at The Music Train! The next session begins April 9, 2013!
