Fall Back Into Sewing!

Has the cooler weather and the change of seasons got you wanting to be more crafty and creative? I'm certainly ready to stay inside and carve out more time for sewing and making things! With the kids back in school my schedule and routine have changed and I'm working on ways to fall back into sewing. How about you?

If you're looking to refresh your sewing skills or just want to start sewing, I recommend that you go visit Craftsy and watch my online sewing class. It's called Sewing Machine 911 and is focused on helping you understand how to set up a sewing machine, troubleshoot common issues, and do some basic maintenance.

SM911 is especially great for beginner sewers or those who haven't touched a sewing machine in years. And if you already sew, you can probably still learn a thing or two; I've received comments from my students, who are experienced sewers, telling me that they learned some helpful tips from my course!

Over the next few months I'll be sharing some sewing tips and tricks through a series of posts on this blog. I think you'll find the information helpful for your own sewing adventures. The series will be called "Behind the Seams". I'll also have some posts on other sewing topics such as differences between sewing machines, helpful tools, skill-building techniques, and fun sewing projects.

So, how about it, let's fall back into sewing together!

  1. I've recently discovered appliqué on an embroidery hoop, which is great for a busy mom, because I can follow the kids around or take it to sports practice.

    1. It's always great to be able to bring along a craft to practice! Too bad it's so inconvenient to bring along the sewing machine! ;) Hand sewn/embroidered applique is always so cute and gives the applique more character.
